We finally got some knobs for our kitchen cabinets (the brushed stainless steel ones we originally bought were too ‘bright’ so we returned them for darker, more rustic looking ones — they look awesome). We’ve put in about 4 so far… only 20 more to go. We also got knobs for our bathrooms. Four years later and we finally have knobs for our cabinets. Sigh. You know it’s sad because we have to re-train ourselves to use the freakin’ knobs instead of grabbing the cabinet doors by the side.
This weekend we’ll be going to Gaithersburg to see if we can find some paintings. Our house is in dire need of artwork and we saw a commercial earlier this week for ‘cheap paintings’ at the Marriott Washingtonian Center — too bad it wasn’t on Sunday, we could’ve had a nice brunch beforehand. Afterwards we’ll head on over to Macy’s to return an abundance of cologne and then we’ll stop by buybuyBABY in Rockville (strongly recommended by one of Jay’s coworkers) — we need to look for furniture for the nursery as well as shop around for things to put on our registry.
A few weeks ago I found a link to get free crib bedding from babysdream.com — I just had to pay $20 for shipping. Earlier this week we received the bedding in the mail; it’s actually really nice (and our first baby ‘purchase’)! It’s definitely worth more than the $20 I paid for it and what I like about it is that it’s neutral. I don’t want to get anything gender-specific since we do plan on having more than one child and who’s to say the next one will be a boy? I’m trying to plan for the future since I know our finances will be tight with the first, I can’t imagine what it will be like with the one(s) following. Eeeek.
I’ve definitely been feeling the baby move more and if I’m quick enough (and no one is looking), I can see him move if I pull up my shirt. It’s so wicked and I must say that it’s the biggest work-deterrent; it’s amazing that I can get anything done during the day. He also kicks a lot in the morning when I’m lying in bed but I think that is because I am a snooze-button addict and will hit that button 10 times before I get up. I’m sure it has to get annoying to hear beeping and then get tossed to the other side of the womb — I’d start kicking too.
