Takeshi: Good all around. Weighs 37 lbs and measures 40″ tall. Cried and cried and cried after his shots. No amount of consoling could help the fact that “that needle HUUUUURT!”

Kenji: Ugh. Weighs 22 lbs, 9 oz and measures 32″ tall. He is not gaining weight or growing and has actually “fallen off” the growth chart. May need to see someone regarding his lack of eating/growing/speech.

Kenji’s 9m well-visit was quick and uneventful. He measures 29″ long (75th percentile) and only weighs about 18 pounds. (They had problems with the scale again and had to weigh the both of us and then subtract my weight.) I told the doctor about Kenji’s dislike of food; she said to try less pureed items (which is what we’ve been doing) and try more finger foods. She said he isn’t gaining as much weight as he should be and that’s probably due to his aversion to foods. :-\

I can definitely tell that he’s not as chunky as Takeshi was at this age; he’s just moving out of his 9 month clothes, whereas Takeshi was already in 18 month pants and shirts.

She also noticed that his top two teeth are starting to come in; I’m hoping more teeth means ease of chewing and less food issues.

At 6 months old, Kenji weighs about* 17 pounds (30th percentile) and measures 27.5 inches (75th percentile).

*Kenji’s weight is a guesstimate because the nurse could not get a good number because he kept on moving on the scale. I later weighed him myself when she stepped out of the room and I got 15 lbs 9 ounces. I am seriously thinking of switching doctors because the incompetence of the doctor and nurse as well as the nurse’s bipolar attitude is starting to rub me the wrong way.

At 4 months old, Kenji weighs 14 lbs 4 oz (25th percentile) and measures 26 inches long (75th percentile). Like his older brother, he is long and lean. He still weighs less than Takeshi did at the same age but is just a smidge (half an inch) taller. Jay thinks Kenji will be shorter than Takeshi — I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

At his 2 month checkup, Kenji weighed 10 lbs 6 ounces and measured 23.5 inches long. He hates the car seat just as much as Takeshi did so trips have been a great deal of fun. *sarcasm*

Takeshi had his 2 year well visit the other day and he weighed in at 31.5 lbs (85th percentile) and measured 35 inches long (63rd percentile). I’m not quite sure how he went from the bottom of the weight chart to the top — must be all that cheese.

Our little monster is growing by leaps and bounds. At 18 months, he weighs in at just under 25 pounds (24 pounds, 14 ounces — 25th percentile) although he was really sick the weekend before his checkup and didn’t eat much of anything. He is 34 inches tall (90th percentile) and is a crazed little monkey.
