Kenji: Ugh. Weighs 22 lbs, 9 oz and measures 32″ tall. He is not gaining weight or growing and has actually “fallen off” the growth chart. May need to see someone regarding his lack of eating/growing/speech.

Kenji’s 9m well-visit was quick and uneventful. He measures 29″ long (75th percentile) and only weighs about 18 pounds. (They had problems with the scale again and had to weigh the both of us and then subtract my weight.) I told the doctor about Kenji’s dislike of food; she said to try less pureed items (which is what we’ve been doing) and try more finger foods. She said he isn’t gaining as much weight as he should be and that’s probably due to his aversion to foods. :-\

I can definitely tell that he’s not as chunky as Takeshi was at this age; he’s just moving out of his 9 month clothes, whereas Takeshi was already in 18 month pants and shirts.

She also noticed that his top two teeth are starting to come in; I’m hoping more teeth means ease of chewing and less food issues.

*Kenji’s weight is a guesstimate because the nurse could not get a good number because he kept on moving on the scale. I later weighed him myself when she stepped out of the room and I got 15 lbs 9 ounces. I am seriously thinking of switching doctors because the incompetence of the doctor and nurse as well as the nurse’s bipolar attitude is starting to rub me the wrong way.
