Last weekend we visited some friends in PA, where Jay got to get on the turntables for a little bit and Takeshi and Kenji got to dance and run around. Takeshi busted out his breakdancing moves before realizing: 1. it’s not so easy to breakdance on grass and 2. there were Daddy Longlegs to be caught.

We took the boys to Fountain Rock Park and visited the Nature Center and also walked around the pond. Takeshi humored us by riding his bike for about 30 seconds before taking off to conquer the playground.

The boys received a few Toys R Us giftcards for their birthday so we spent Sunday morning picking out new toys. They didn’t want to leave the train section but I saw something that caught my eye. When we got home, Jay and I spent a good while trying to piece it together…and the boys haven’t stopped playing with it.
While out picking up Jay’s post-surgery meds, I saw a little bug kit at Rite Aide (which should just be called Impulse Buy Central). I made the mistake of purchasing it and now there are 2 wasps (one very much alive) and one very healthy, web-full spider sitting on our kitchen island. Oh joy!
Jay was sliced open yesterday (Friday) to remove one of the lumps from his neck. They’ve sent it in for testing and should have results by Tuesday. The doctor says he is 75% certain it is a form of lymphoma (most likely Hodgkin’s). We have our fingers crossed that it’s just some sort of infection. In the meantime, he is slowly recovering from his out-patient surgery. Luckily the weather is nice enough that I can take the boys out for some fun in the sun. And here is the obligatory post-procedure picture.
Stopped by our CSA farm today and we got to see the mama goat and her kid. Farmer Carol said she expected 2 kids (since this goat has big babies but she’d expect 3 if it was another goat) but we only saw one. Didn’t see Carol to inquire; guess we’ll ask next time.
This is what I came across last night before getting into bed. Esco used to run away at the sound of Takeshi’s voice; now he looks for him at bedtime. Only took 4 years but he is one pwned cat.
Here is an example of what happens when you are not paying attention and grab the wrong buzzer to cut your child’s beautiful, soft, flowing hair. My poor Kenji now looks naked and I am mortified. I feel that Takeshi looks better with less hair (since his is so unruly) but Kenji’s face is so nicely framed by his hair. Well, it *was.*
